We would welcome an experienced Yang style 24 form practitioner to join us as a volunteer teacher.

ABOUT US

Operating within Dunstable u3a, we are a peer-led practice group of Tai Chi beginners formed in July 2026 and practicing the Yang style 24 form routine.

The 24 form is a standardised, shortened version designed to make Yang-style tai chi more accessible. Developed in 1956,  It retains many of the 108 long form’s core movements, while reducing repetition, variations and changes of direction.

It is particularly well suited to older people. Its slow, controlled movements provide gentle exercise that can improve balance, leg strength, flexibility, coordination and posture.

Regular practice may also encourage relaxation, concentration and greater confidence in everyday movement. Because the complete form takes only five to eight minutes, it is manageable to learn and practical to practise regularly. We also adapt movements to suit different levels of mobility and fitness.

Tai chi can be very beneficial, but it should not be presented as entirely risk-free: anyone with significant balance, joint or heart problems should practise within their own limits and seek appropriate medical advice where necessary.
